ED's Questioning Of K Kavitha Politically Motivated: BRS MLC

Hyderabad (Telangana): With Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha in connection with Delhi excise policy case, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said the matter is a politically motivated case.

Reddy said, ‘The ED is working at the behest of the Prime Minister and the Home minister of the country. It is a politically motivated case. ED does not listen to courts, they only listen to the PM Modi.’ The BRS MLC said there are around 6,000 cases filed against political leaders across the country.

‘If any person named in an ED case joins the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), their cases will disappear. Everyone knows it is a politically motivated case. They may arrest her also but we are ready. We will face it as we believe in the Indian judiciary,’ he said.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned BRS MLC and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha on Tuesday again in connection with the probe into the Delhi liquor policy case, said sources.

According to BRS sources, Kavitha has been summoned to the agency’s office at 11 am on Tuesday.

Kavitha appeared before ED on Monday for the second time after the federal agency on March 16, issued a fresh summon to the BRS leader to join its ongoing investigation in the case.

BRS sources said she has answered all the questions asked by ED officials and the agency has taken her signature on the written statement.

The federal agency had issued the fresh summons as Kavitha refused to attend the ED interrogation on Thursday citing a pending petition in the Supreme Court.

Kavitha did not appear for questioning conveying to the probe agency that the matter is still pending before the apex court.

According to the sources, Kavitha sent the necessary documents sought by the probe agency through her legal representative.

The ED had summoned her earlier this month to appear before it on Thursday in the Delhi excise scam, alleging that she was a key member of the south cartel.

The BRS leader had approached the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing claiming that as a woman, she cannot be summoned to the ED office, and the probe agency’s representatives must visit her instead.
